1. Who we are
GreenOnion Video (video.greenonion.ai) is operated by GreenOnion AI Inc. ("GreenOnion," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use GreenOnion Video to turn text into videos, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, name and profile photo from the sign-in method you choose (Google, GitHub or email and password), whether your email is verified, your sign-in method and your last sign-in time.
- Content you provide. Text and scripts you paste, article links you submit (we fetch the page to read its text), images you upload, and voice recordings you make.
- Content we generate for you. Scripts, slide designs, illustrations, voiceovers, thumbnails and videos.
- Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your plan, a Stripe customer ID and payment status, but not your card number.
- Usage and device information. Pages you visit and actions you take in the app, a random analytics ID stored in your browser, the page and campaign tags that first brought you to us (kept with your account), browser and device details, and your IP address. Our server logs can also include parts of your prompts.
- Free-trial fairness data.To give each person one free trial, we keep one-way hashes of your email address (ignoring aliases), of a random browser ID stored in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, and a keyed hash of your IP address.
- Rate limiting. To stop abuse, we briefly keep your IP address with a count of recent requests.
3. How we use information
- To provide the service: plan your video, design slides, create images and voiceovers, and export videos.
- To run your account, credits and subscription, and to respond to support requests.
- To prevent abuse, such as repeated free trials, and to keep the service secure and reliable.
- To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context advertising, and we do not use your content to advertise to you.
4. AI and service providers we share information with
We send information to the following providers only as needed to run the service:
- Anthropic (Claude): your text and images, to plan your video and design slides.
- Google: Gemini receives your text and images to plan, write, tag and illustrate your video and to create voiceovers. YouTube search suggestions receive your video topic, to suggest titles and tags. Google Cloud hosts our servers, database and file storage, and Firebase Authentication manages sign-in.
- OpenAI (Whisper): your voiceover audio, to time each word so on-screen text matches the narration.
- Pexels: search keywords, to find stock photos.
- Iconify: icon search words taken from your script, to find icons.
- Jina AI: article links you submit, to read the page's text.
- Stripe: your email address, account ID and payment details, to take payments.
- PostHog: product analytics linked to your account ID, email and name, and, if enabled, session recordings of how you use the app. Text you type into input boxes is masked in recordings, but other text shown on screen, such as project and slide titles, may appear.
- GreenOnion's image service: links to generated sticker images, to remove their backgrounds.
Your browser also loads content directly from some of these services, which then see your IP address: images from Pexels and Iconify, fonts from Google Fonts, and, if you play a demo video on our homepage, YouTube, which may set its own cookies.
We use these providers' business APIs. By default, Anthropic, OpenAI and Google do not use data sent through their paid APIs to train their models, and they keep it only for a limited time, for example to monitor abuse. We may also disclose information with your consent, if required by law, to protect our users or the service, or as part of a merger or acquisition.
5. How long we keep information
- Account information and projects: while your account is active, or until you delete them.
- Deleting a project removes it from your account right away. Files it produced, such as images, voiceovers and exported videos, may remain in storage at their links until we remove them.
- To close your account and have your data deleted, email us (see Section 6). We will delete your account, your projects and the files we can link to you.
- Usage and analytics records, including those from visits before you sign in: as long as needed to improve the service. Records linked to your account are deleted when you close it.
- Server logs, which can include your IP address and parts of your prompts: about 30 days.
- IP address hashes for free-trial fairness: deleted once they are more than about 30 days old.
- Rate-limiting records containing IP addresses: normally deleted within a day.
- Payment and transaction records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
6. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete your projects in the app at any time. You can also ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to close your account, by emailing hello@greenonion.ai from the email address on your account. We may need to verify your identity, and we respond as required by applicable law, including the GDPR and the CCPA where they apply. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
7. Cookies and browser storage
- Essential: sign-in data, which Firebase keeps in your browser's storage, and a random browser ID (a cookie and local storage) used only for free-trial fairness.
- Preferences: drafts, including text you paste before signing in, and settings kept in your browser while you create a video.
- Analytics: a random analytics ID and the source of your first visit in local storage, and PostHog cookies and storage.
You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking essential storage may stop sign-in from working.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls and authenticated access to your projects, and we store IP addresses for free-trial fairness only as keyed hashes. Generated files, such as images, voiceovers and exported videos, are stored at unlisted links: anyone who has a file's link can open it, so share links with care. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
9. International processing
We and our providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on recognized safeguards for international transfers.
10. Children
GreenOnion Video is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, use the service only with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is material, we will give additional notice, such as in the app or by email.
